What is Kappa Kappa Psi? Well...you could check out our various websites, one of which I've included a URL on this
website, but I'll save you the trouble. Kappa Kappa Psi is a recognition society...yes...it's Greek...but it's more
than some fraternity or sorority that gets together to socialize and cause mayhem. It's a co-ed band fraternity formed
to help serve the marching band of the university. For you high school students, it's basically band counsel. To
me, it's become my new family. Now I know, many of you are thinking, "Lauren,...Greek? No Way!" Yes,
I'm Greek, and I'm proud of it. I've made so many new friends and gotten the chance to voice my opinions when it comes
to the marching band experience here at Northern Illinois University. And we don't only deal with the marching
band, we have helped run the local band contests, provide food and beverages at various concerts, and keep a
local highway clean. This year our big event was planning and hosting our district convention at our very own Holmes
Student Center. What an experience! I was mostly just along for the ride, but I'm so glad that I could be apart
of everything we have done this school year. The greatest of all is how close I've gotten to some of our members.
Heck! I'm gonna be living with two of my brothers (females...hehe) next school year in a three bedroom apartment right
in the center of campus. You can't get much closer than that! But anyway, for all of my brothers out there, thanks
for a great school year, and I hope to look forward to four more years of fun! "K!...K!.....Psi!"
